Your smartwatch could help your brain recover from surgery

NCT ID NCT03601728

Summary

This study tests if a personalized home exercise program, guided by a smartwatch in the weeks before knee or hip replacement surgery, can help prevent post-surgery confusion (delirium) and improve recovery. Researchers are comparing this 'prehabilitation' approach to standard pre-surgery care in adults aged 55 and older. The goal is to see if staying active at home with tech support leads to better thinking skills, mobility, and shorter hospital stays after the operation.
