Screen time pain: study compares smartphone and gaming addicts
NCT ID NCT07573345
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how smartphone and video game addiction may affect pain, posture, and arm/hand function. Researchers will compare three groups: people with smartphone addiction, people who play video games for long periods, and people without these habits. The goal is to see if screen addiction is linked to physical problems like neck pain or carpal tunnel syndrome.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If this study finds clear links between screen addiction and physical problems, it could lead to better awareness and prevention strategies for pain and injury.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study (60 people) that only measures associations, not causes. Results may not apply to everyone and won't prove that screen use directly causes harm.
