Phone app aims to boost recovery in lung cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05990946

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a smartphone app that tracks symptoms and gives feedback can help lung cancer patients do their prescribed rehab exercises after minimally invasive surgery. About 736 patients will use the app and be randomly assigned to get symptom alerts with clinician advice or just use the app without feedback. The goal is to see if the app improves exercise adherence and reduces complications.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
smartphone app for remote symptom management
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a simple, scalable way to help lung cancer patients recover better after surgery by improving exercise adherence.
What could go wrong
This is a single-center trial with an interim analysis due to slow recruitment, so results may not apply broadly. The app's benefit depends on patient engagement and clinician response.
