New app could spot jaundice in babies with a simple photo
NCT ID NCT06963450
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests a smartphone app called neoSCB that screens for jaundice in newborns by taking a photo of the baby's eye. Jaundice is common and usually harmless, but severe cases need treatment to prevent brain damage. The app aims to accurately detect high bilirubin levels without a blood test, reducing unnecessary hospital visits. About 405 babies will participate to see if the app works as well as standard screening devices.
