Smart pen aims to tame uncontrolled diabetes in urban teens

NCT ID NCT05515939

Summary

This study is testing whether a smart, Bluetooth-connected insulin pen can help teens and young adults (ages 13-21) with uncontrolled type 1 diabetes improve their blood sugar levels. The smart pen has an app that calculates insulin doses and sends reminders, aiming to make daily management simpler and more accurate. Researchers want to see if using this device for 24 weeks leads to better long-term blood sugar control and improves patients' confidence in managing their diabetes numbers.
