Smart implant could end painful needle injections in breast reconstruction

Summary
This study is testing a new 'smart' tissue expander device for women undergoing breast reconstruction or augmentation. The device slowly expands on its own, aiming to avoid the frequent, uncomfortable needle injections required with standard expanders. Researchers will compare the smart device to the standard method in 20 participants to see if it works as well and improves patient comfort.
