New breathing test tracks COPD recovery in real time

NCT ID NCT07185581

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tested a simple breathing test called impulse oscillometry (IOS) in 41 people during a COPD flare-up and again after recovery (6-12 weeks later). The test measured how well the small airways were working and showed clear improvements as patients got better. The findings suggest IOS could be a helpful tool for doctors to monitor COPD flare-ups and recovery in the clinic.
