Scientists probe hidden cause of fatigue in treated SMA patients
NCT ID NCT05518773
Summary
This study aimed to understand why people with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) who are on treatment still experience severe fatigue and reduced exercise capacity. Researchers observed 34 ambulatory SMA patients who had been on standard SMA therapies for at least 6 months. They measured muscle function, oxygen use, and walking ability to learn if muscle problems, not just nerve issues, contribute to fatigue, hoping to guide better future treatments.
