Can a Computer-Controlled injection ease Kids' dental fear?
NCT ID NCT07741487
First seen Aug 03, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This trial tests whether a computer-controlled anesthesia device, SleeperOne® 5, can reduce pain and anxiety compared to a standard dental injection in children aged 8-14 with molar-incisor hypomineralization (MIH), a condition causing weak enamel. Each child receives both anesthesia methods in separate sessions, and their pain, behavior, heart rate, and oxygen levels are measured. The goal is to see if this technology makes dental treatment more comfortable for children with MIH.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- SleeperOne® 5 computer-controlled intraosseous anesthesia device
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this device could offer a less painful and less anxiety-provoking alternative to standard dental injections for children with MIH, improving their dental experience.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial (35 children) and results may not apply to all children or settings. The device may not always outperform conventional anesthesia, and there are inherent risks with any local anesthetic procedure.
