Scientists try to reprogram nightmares with sounds during sleep
NCT ID NCT05933109
Summary
This study tested whether a technique using sounds during sleep could make a standard nightmare therapy work better and faster. 46 people with PTSD and frequent nightmares underwent therapy to rewrite their bad dreams. Half also heard a specific sound during their REM sleep, hoping to strengthen the new, positive dream scenario.
