Kids' cavities linked to sleep and saliva chemistry, new study finds
NCT ID NCT07427004
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at 73 children ages 6-12 to see if sleep problems and certain chemicals in saliva are related to cavities and gum health. Researchers measured things like saliva flow, pH, and stress hormones, and compared them to how severe the children's tooth decay was. The goal was to better understand what factors might increase cavity risk, not to test a new treatment.
