Sleep more, lower blood sugar? new study tests simple diabetes prevention

NCT ID NCT03398902

Summary

This study tested whether a personalized plan to help adults with prediabetes get more sleep could improve their blood sugar control and help prevent type 2 diabetes. Researchers worked with 393 adults who had prediabetes and typically slept less than 6.5 hours on workdays. One group received coaching to extend their sleep over 8 weeks, while another maintained their usual sleep habits, to see if more sleep time led to better glucose levels.
