Nighttime breathing stops may be secretly harming your heart

NCT ID NCT07315399

Summary

This study aims to understand how repeated drops in oxygen levels during sleep in people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) might damage the tiny blood vessels in the heart, a condition called coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD). Researchers will follow 560 adults with suspected heart issues, monitoring their sleep and heart vessel health to see if specific oxygen patterns are better at predicting heart vessel damage and future heart problems than the standard sleep apnea measurement. The goal is to learn more about the link to help identify patients at higher risk.
