Scientists scan brains to uncover sleep Apnea's hidden impact on thinking

NCT ID NCT05147649

Summary

This study uses brain imaging (fMRI) to understand how obstructive sleep apnea affects brain activity and thinking skills while patients are awake. Researchers will compare brain scans of people with severe sleep apnea to those without the condition, and also look at how CPAP treatment might change brain patterns. The goal is to learn whether the brain works harder to compensate for breathing difficulties during sleep, and if this affects memory, attention, or other cognitive functions.
