Sleepless nights may trigger diabetes risk, study finds
NCT ID NCT02256865
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at how not getting enough sleep changes two key hormones, cortisol and testosterone, and whether these changes lead to insulin resistance, a major cause of type 2 diabetes. Researchers studied 40 healthy men aged 22-45 to measure these effects, along with mood, food cravings, and inflammation. The goal was to better understand the link between poor sleep and diabetes risk.
