Mother's warmth vs. machine: trial tests safer transport for tiniest babies

NCT ID NCT05820386

Summary

This study is testing if carrying very premature babies directly on a parent's chest (skin-to-skin) during the move from the delivery room to the intensive care unit is as safe and effective at keeping them warm as using a traditional incubator. It involves 118 premature infants born before 34 weeks. The main goal is to see if this early, close contact can help stabilize the baby's temperature and potentially improve their health outcomes and the parents' experience.
