New layer could make skin grafts more flexible, less scarred

NCT ID NCT02090361

Summary

This study tested whether adding a special collagen-elastin matrix under a standard skin graft improves the final result. It involved 92 adults who needed skin grafts for wounds from trauma or surgery. Researchers compared grafts done with the matrix to grafts done alone, measuring skin flexibility, pain, and scarring one year later.
