New cream could shield transplant patients from skin cancer

NCT ID NCT05699603

Summary

This study is testing whether a combination skin cream can prevent skin cancer in people who have received an organ transplant. Organ transplant recipients take medications that weaken their immune system, which puts them at very high risk for developing skin cancer. Researchers are applying a cream containing two medications (calcipotriene and 5-fluorouracil) to pre-cancerous skin spots to see if it can stop them from turning into cancer.
