Leg traction before surgery: does it help or not?

NCT ID NCT06160804

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at adults with a broken thigh bone (femur) who needed surgery within 24 hours. Researchers wanted to see if applying gentle traction (pulling) to the leg before surgery made the operation easier, reduced pain, and lowered blood loss. The study was stopped early, so results are limited.
