Could a pill cure your hangover? new study tests SJP-001
NCT ID NCT07487909
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a combination pill called SJP-001 (which contains fexofenadine and naproxen) can reduce hangover symptoms after drinking alcohol. 47 healthy adults who drink moderately took the pill, a placebo, or each drug alone on different days, then rated their hangover severity. The goal was to see how the drug moves through the body and if it eases hangover symptoms.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
SJP-001 (a combination of fexofenadine and naproxen)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a treatment for hangover symptoms, making mornings after drinking less unpleasant.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase study with only 47 healthy people, so results may not apply to everyone. The effect on hangover severity is subjective and may not be significant compared to placebo.
