First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 04, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a quick sit-to-stand test can help doctors decide if a COVID-19 patient should be hospitalized or can safely go home. The test measures how many times a person can stand up from a chair in 30 seconds. The goal was to reduce the number of patients who needed to be hospitalized within 48 hours after first being sent home. The study was terminated early and included 54 adults with confirmed COVID-19 in the emergency department.
