Drug trial offers hope for kids with painful, growing birthmarks
NCT ID NCT02509468
Summary
This study tested whether the drug sirolimus could shrink large, painful, or bleeding vascular malformations (abnormal tangles of blood or lymph vessels) in children. 63 participants aged 6-18 were followed for a year, first without treatment and then with sirolimus, to see if the drug reduced the size of their malformations and improved symptoms like pain and bleeding.
