New Drug-Coated balloon aims to save limbs from amputation

NCT ID NCT04238546

Summary

This study is testing whether a balloon coated with the drug sirolimus works better than a standard balloon at keeping leg arteries open after a procedure to clear blockages. It involves 1,200 patients with severe peripheral artery disease who are at risk of needing leg amputation or repeat surgeries. The main goal is to see if the sirolimus-coated balloon can better prevent these serious outcomes over one year.
