Disposable scope tested to stop deadly infections after common bile duct procedure

NCT ID NCT05225909

Summary

This study tested a new, single-use duodenoscope (called an aScope) during ERCP procedures to see if it could help prevent serious bacterial infections. Researchers enrolled 59 patients at high risk for post-ERCP infections across multiple hospitals. The main goal was to see if doctors could successfully complete the intended procedure with the disposable scope and to understand the costs and benefits for the healthcare system.
