New study aims to stop COVID-19 by tackling poverty and stress

NCT ID NCT05228886

Summary

This study is testing whether screening people for social needs—like food or housing insecurity—and connecting them to community services can help prevent COVID-19 transmission and improve overall health. It will enroll 1,500 adults from emergency departments and testing sites who speak English or Spanish and have reported social needs. Researchers will check if this support, plus follow-up phone calls, leads to better health and less depression and anxiety over 12 weeks.
