Simple drugs may improve ERCP success

NCT ID NCT07461389

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving simethicone (a defoaming agent) and dicyclomine (which reduces gut contractions) before or during ERCP improves how well doctors can see and work. 90 adults were split into three groups: one got no extra drugs, one got simethicone before the procedure, and one got it during. The goal was to see if these drugs lead to better visibility, less gut movement, shorter procedure time, and higher doctor satisfaction.
