Silver gel takes on purell in hand bacteria showdown

NCT ID NCT00659204

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether a silver nanoparticle gel (SilvaSorb®) could kill bacteria on hands better than a common alcohol-based hand gel (Purell). Healthy volunteers had their hands seeded with a harmless bacteria, then used one of the gels. The trial was terminated early and only included 22 people, so the results are not conclusive.
