Silver shield for teeth: simple gel may protect cancer patients from devastating dental damage

NCT ID NCT05403125

Summary

This study tested if a simple, professionally applied silver fluoride gel could prevent severe tooth decay in head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. Radiation treatment can cause rapid and devastating tooth decay as a side effect. The research involved about 60 patients to see if applying this gel before and after radiation could protect their teeth over six months.
