Silver shield for tiniest babies: bandage fights deadly infections

NCT ID NCT00964093

Summary

This study tested whether a special bandage coated with silver could prevent serious bloodstream infections in very small, premature babies who need IV lines. Researchers compared the silver bandage to standard bandages in 100 infants to see if it reduced infections. They also checked the babies' safety by monitoring silver levels in their blood.
