First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tested whether sildenafil (the drug in Viagra) can reduce harmful blood flow pulsations in the brains of people who have had a stroke or mini-stroke due to small vessel disease. 75 participants took sildenafil, a similar drug (cilostazol), and a placebo for three weeks each. The goal was to see if opening up blood vessels could protect the brain and slow down further damage.
