First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This pilot study aimed to see if giving sildenafil (a drug that relaxes blood vessels) to women during labor could reduce the need for emergency C-sections or instrument-assisted births and lower the risk of newborn death or breathing problems. The trial was planned for low-resource countries and would have compared sildenafil to a placebo. However, the study was withdrawn before enrolling any participants.
