Viagra tested as a bridge to heart surgery

NCT ID NCT07462260

Summary

This study is testing if adding the drug sildenafil (commonly known as Viagra) to standard care can help patients with severe lung pressure caused by damaged heart valves from rheumatic fever. The goal is to see if it improves how far patients can walk and their heart function while they wait for definitive valve surgery. About 100 adults with this condition will receive either sildenafil or a placebo pill for six weeks to compare results.
