Viagra tested as potential Brain-Saver for stroke survivors

NCT ID NCT03855332

Summary

This study tested if sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra) could help people who have had a minor stroke caused by small vessel disease. Researchers gave 75 participants sildenafil, a placebo, and another blood vessel drug in random order for three weeks each. They used ultrasound scans to see if the medication reduced harmful pressure pulses in the brain's blood vessels, which could slow down further brain damage.
