Can a simple blood test predict who lives or dies in the ICU?

NCT ID NCT07493759

Summary

This study looked back at medical records to see if a number calculated from a routine blood test (called the Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index or SII) could help predict which critically ill patients were more likely to die in the intensive care unit (ICU). Researchers analyzed data from 570 adult ICU patients to check if higher SII scores were linked to higher death rates. The goal is to find a fast, low-cost way to help doctors assess a patient's risk and prognosis.
