Massive sickle cell study tracks 10,000 patients for decades

Summary
This study will follow up to 10,000 people with sickle cell disease over many years, collecting health data and blood samples at regular clinic visits. The goal is to understand how the disease damages organs over time and how treatments like hydroxyurea affect long-term health. A sub-study will also look at how genes influence response to hydroxyurea. This is an observational study, not a treatment trial.
