NIH hunts for new sickle cell drugs in blood samples

NCT ID NCT00542230

Summary

This study aims to find new drug treatments for sickle cell disease by collecting small blood samples from volunteers. Researchers will test these samples against thousands of existing compounds to see if any can prevent the red blood cell damage that causes the disease. The study needs adults with sickle cell trait or disease, as well as healthy volunteers, to donate blood for this screening process.
