NCT ID NCT07264530
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether manually mobilizing the sacroiliac joint (a joint in the lower back) can reduce tension and pain in the piriformis muscle, a deep hip muscle that often cramps. Researchers used physical therapy techniques on 40 adults with lower back or hip pain and muscle sensitivity. They measured changes in muscle irritability and pain before and after the procedure.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a simple physical therapy technique to relieve muscle spasms and pain in the lower back or hip area.
