Can a simple test replace X-Rays for shunt checks?

NCT ID NCT04011566

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study is testing a device called ShuntCheck to see if it can correctly tell whether a shunt (a tube that drains fluid from the brain) is working in people with normal pressure hydrocephalus who have no symptoms. The study will include 50 adults aged 40 and older who already have a shunt and are coming for a routine checkup. The goal is to see if this test can reliably detect fluid flow, which could make future checks easier and faster.
