New nerve block aims to stop shoulder surgery pain without stopping breathing

NCT ID NCT05444517

Summary

This study compared two methods of numbing nerves to control pain after shoulder surgery. Researchers tested a new combination of nerve blocks against the standard method to see if it provided equal pain relief while avoiding a risky side effect that can temporarily paralyze the diaphragm and affect breathing. The trial involved 50 patients undergoing arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
