New nerve block study aims to reduce shoulder surgery pain with fewer breathing side effects

NCT ID NCT06973447

Summary

This study compared two different nerve block techniques for managing pain after shoulder surgery. Researchers tested whether combining two specific nerve blocks would provide similar pain relief while causing less temporary breathing muscle weakness compared to a single, more extensive block. The trial involved 30 adults undergoing shoulder surgery, measuring their pain levels and breathing function after receiving one of the two block methods.
