New pain block for shoulder surgery may spare breathing muscle

Summary

This study compares two types of nerve blocks given before shoulder surgery to control pain and prevent temporary paralysis of the diaphragm, the main breathing muscle. Thirty adults having arthroscopic shoulder surgery will receive one of the two blocks. The goal is to see which block provides better pain relief with fewer breathing side effects.
