First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two surgical procedures for people who have had multiple shoulder dislocations and have minor bone loss. One surgery is done through small incisions (arthroscopic), and the other is open surgery. The goal is to see which approach better restores shoulder stability and function. Thirty participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgeries and followed over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- surgical procedure (Bankart repair plus Remplissage or Latarjet coracoid transfer)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could show which surgical technique is more effective for preventing repeat shoulder dislocations and improving quality of life.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Surgery always carries risks like infection or nerve damage.
