New nerve block combo may spare diaphragm during shoulder surgery

NCT ID NCT07474896

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests two ways to numb the shoulder for surgery. The standard method can weaken the diaphragm, making breathing harder. The new method combines two different nerve blocks to try to avoid that problem. About 70 people having shoulder surgery will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods, and their breathing and pain will be checked afterward.
