New shoulder surgery could prevent common, devastating complication

NCT ID NCT07410650

Summary

This study is testing a new way to perform total shoulder replacement for severe arthritis. The new technique avoids cutting a key shoulder muscle (the subscapularis), which is normally cut and repaired in standard surgery. Researchers will track 50 patients to see if this muscle-sparing approach leads to better pain relief, shoulder strength, and recovery, while avoiding a common complication where the muscle repair fails.
