Zap and stretch: new combo therapy targets debilitating Post-Stroke shoulder pain

NCT ID NCT02893267

Summary

This study tested whether a temporary nerve stimulation device, physical therapy, or a combination of both works best for long-term shoulder pain relief in people who have had a stroke. 96 stroke survivors with persistent, moderate-to-severe shoulder pain were randomly assigned to receive different combinations of real or pretend (sham) treatments. The goal was to see which approach most effectively reduced pain and improved daily life over several months.
