Can we cut steroid time for HIV pneumonia without risk?
NCT ID NCT03856229
Summary
This study is testing whether a shorter course of steroid medication works as well as the standard 3-week treatment for a serious type of pneumonia in people with HIV. Researchers are comparing an 8 or 14-day steroid schedule to the usual 21-day schedule in 196 hospitalized patients. The goal is to see if the shorter treatment controls the pneumonia just as effectively while potentially causing fewer side effects.
