Can less steroids be just as good for fighting pneumonia?

NCT ID NCT03856229

Summary

This study is testing if a shorter course of steroid treatment is as safe and effective as the standard 21-day course for treating moderate to severe pneumonia in people with HIV/AIDS. It will involve about 196 hospitalized patients who will receive either the shorter (8 or 14 days) or the standard steroid schedule alongside their main antibiotic treatment. The main goal is to see if the shorter treatment works just as well at preventing death within 30 days and reduces long-term lung problems.
