Surgery patients may soon drink until called to the operating room
NCT ID NCT07488468
Summary
This project aims to improve patient comfort before surgery by reducing unnecessarily long fasting times. It will test a new rule allowing patients to drink clear liquids until they are called to the operating room, instead of fasting for many hours. The study will see if this shorter fasting time leads to fewer problems like nausea, vomiting, and confusion after surgery.
