Quick fix for Sun-Damaged skin: shorter light therapy may cut pain without losing punch
NCT ID NCT06027619
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested whether shorter incubation times for a topical gel (10% ALA) before red-light therapy could reduce pain while still clearing actinic keratoses—rough, scaly spots caused by sun damage. Thirty adults with at least 10 facial lesions were randomly assigned to have the gel left on for 10, 20, or 60 minutes before light exposure. Researchers measured pain during treatment and how many spots cleared up afterward.
