Could fewer antibiotic days be just as good for kids with pneumonia?

NCT ID NCT06494072

Summary

This study is testing whether a shorter, 5-day course of antibiotics works as well as the standard longer course (usually 7-14 days) for children hospitalized with uncomplicated pneumonia. Researchers will enroll 236 children aged 3 months to 18 years and randomly assign them to either the 5-day or standard-duration treatment. The main goals are to see if the shorter course is equally effective at curing the infection and if it causes fewer side effects like stomach issues or rashes.
